Ordering Sperm

The Arizona Center for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility offers assistance with ordering donated sperm for women and couples who want to parent but either have no male partner or who are challenged with male factor infertility.

Use of a sperm donation program from an outside agency provides the perfect solution for women who:

  • Want to bear children without a partner
  • Have an infertile partner
  • Are in a same-sex partnership

Of course you can utilize sperm donation with any infertility treatments that are relevant to your situation.

Strict Screening

At The Arizona Center for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility we only order from agencies who employ a stringent screening process for sperm donors. Of the considerable number of donors who sign up for a sperm donation program with an outside agency, just 1% make it to the sperm bank. So you can come to us with confidence, knowing that at The Arizona Center for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility it’s safe and easy to use our recommended partners to conceive with ordered sperm.

How to Choose a Donor from an Outside Agency

Choosing a sperm donor is one of the most important decisions of your life. As the best fertility specialist in Tucson The Arizona Center for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility is proud to provide helpful advice regarding your choice of sperm donor.

  • There’s no such thing as a ‘perfect donor’. While you want your child to get the best genetic traits and features, keep in mind there’s no perfect donor who possesses ALL the qualities you have in mind. So it’s better to prioritize your requirements and shortlist the donors who fulfill the most important criteria.
  • It’s better if the donor resembles you and/or your partner. This increases the chances of your child looking like you and/or your partner.
  • Assess the physical characteristics of the donor’s family. Don’t just consider the donor’s physical features. For instance a donor may be tall that may not run in his family if he has short siblings.
  • Consider matching or complementing your personality. If you would like to have a child who is athletic, for example, you may want to consider finding a donor who is also athletic.
  • Compare the donor’s medical history to your own. If your family has a certain genetic condition, you should rule out a donor who has a history of the same condition in his family.
  • Intelligence and higher education are not the same. While its natural to be concerned about the intellect of the donor, don’t equate the lack of a higher education with lower intellect. The donor may have reasons for not being able to attended college, despite being very intelligent.
  • Read the donors’ personal statements. Going through these write ups can help you understand the personality of the donor. This can be very helpful in choosing a donor, especially if you’re having trouble choosing from a shortlisted group of donors.
